Sandi Smith presenting her round the world story to WOVI

Sandi is the sixth American female and the 15th or so female in the world to co-pilot a single-engine airplane around the world. In 1995, she and Jay Merten, M.D. took his six-seat Piper Malibu prop to five continents and twenty destinations in 86 days.

She has visited 100 countries, including a backpacking trip alone around the world. Her volunteer work in Kenya, Russia, and Nepal earned her the 1996 AWSCPA Public Service Award and the Baird Community Service Award in March 1996. Sandi uses her extraordinary life experiences to help others achieve huge dreams in their lifetimes. Thousands of people have attended her programs, and her ideas on reducing fear and risk move people toward a bias for action.

Sandi is an MBA/CPA with Fortune 50 project management experience, a published author, and a frequent speaker. Among her eight books is Following Amelia: A Modern Day 'Round-the-World Flight. Her writing has won awards and has been published internationally. Sandi also holds a MS in Applied Cognition and Neuroscience from University of Texas at Dallas.
